blue sky
Recently, I had a hoo-ha with The Monger. Maybe you've also hoo-ha'd with The Monger, that dictatorial voice, always lying about unchangeable Reality. It baits us to believe that Love isn't our truth, and that we may, after all, be just as small and insufficient as the the news, The Shoulds, and social media convey. (They do have huge fellowships of Mongers!)
To help unsnarl myself I engaged some basic tools, like intentional breathing. That was helpful. Somewhat. I also consciously inserted thoughts I preferred over the feral ones leaping in to invade my peace. That helped, too, but it didn't completely exorcise The Monger's influence. Finally, at last, I went outside my internal focus for a glorious spring day walk with one of my dearest friends. And, wonderfully, I retrieved myself.
Studies repeatedly confirm what I experienced: that connection to each other and Nature reconciles us with joy. It's what Thich Nhat Hanh calls interbeing: knowing that there is "nothing that exists separately from anything else." Thankfully, the vastness of a true friendship and the blue, blue sky helped me remember.
I wish you such vastness should you ever encounter another hoo-ha.
